Adela is a newer addition to the game, and she has hit the list just recently. The Norwegian lady has already made her mark on Lumia Island with her ranged skill attacks and strength to survive under difficult conditions. Her SP level is the talking point currently; she can thrive even without SP enhancing items.

This article will look upon her skills, build options, playing guide, duos and squad gameplay strategies, and her strengths & weaknesses. Let’s look at her passive, QWER, and weapon skills first.

Adela’s Skills

Promotion (Q)
50 SP; 4 secs cooldown
Adela places her pawn at the targeted location, dealing damage. Placing a pawn grants her a stack. Upon reaching a certain amount of stacks, her movement speed increases. Her next pawn will be Queened, dealing damage and stunning enemies hit for a few seconds. Stacks are reset if Promotion is not reactivated within a few seconds.
Pawns and Queens remain for a few seconds. Promotion's cooldown can not be reduced.
Knight Fork (W)
90 SP; 18 secs cooldown
Adela moves her Knight to the targeted location, dealing damage. It hops, dealing damage upon landing.
Hitting a pawn, queen, or rook with the initial landing spot pushes the piece opposite of the knight, causing different effects.
Pawn and Queen: Piece stops upon hitting an enemy, dealing damage proportional to the damage dealt with Promotion (Q), and knocking them airborne for a few seconds.
Rook: deals damage proportional to the damage dealt with Castling (E) to enemies hit, knocking them airborne for a few seconds. Knight remains for a few seconds. Summoning another Knight will cause the first knight to disappear.
Castling (E)
70 SP; 20 secs cooldown
Adela slides her rook in the targeted direction dealing damage to enemies hit. Hitting a pawn, queen, or knight on the way causes those pieces to deal damage.
Pawn and Queen: deal damage proportional to the damage dealt with Promotion (Q).
Knight: deal damage proportional to the damage dealt with Knight Fork, slow enemies for a few seconds. Reactivate the skill within a few seconds to switch places with the rook.
Rooks remain for a few seconds. Sliding another rook will cause the first rook to disappear.
Checkmate (R)
90 SP; 85 secs cooldown
Adela raises into the air for a few seconds, becoming untargetable and unable to take damage. Upon landing, she deals damage to enemies in range, and each active chess piece attacks, dealing true damage to enemies proportionally to their max HP in an area around it, and disappearing after.
Control the Center (Passive)
No cost
Adela's attack range is increased, her attack speed is fixed and her Critical Strike Chance increases. If her Attack Speed increases, her Attack Power increases too.
Chiara_QuickCut_DWeapon Skill: Quick Cut (D)
No cost; 30 secs cooldown
Charge towards the targeted enemy and deal damage.

Control the Center – Passive

With her passive skill, Adela can increase her attack range (2.5 meters), critical strike chance (4/8/12%), and movement speed. This skill has no SP cost, and the Control the Center skill remains active for 2 seconds.

Promotion – Q

Adela summons pawns in a targeted location to deal with the damage. Besides damage, the Promotion skill attack earns Adela stacks. Once she reaches three stacks, her next Q attack will cause an extra damaging effect and stun her opponent for 1 second.

The Promotion attack is a ranged skill of Adela. She can target her opponents as far as 7 meters. The cooldown time for this skill is pretty low, so it would be great if you use this skill attack quite often.

Knight Fork – W

Adela unleashes her knight in a targeted direction and deals damage to her opponents. The released knight jumps and reaches the target in no time. The effects of a pawn, queen, and rook are different from each other. The cooldown time for this skill attack is 13-17 seconds, and the SP cost is 90-130. This skill lasts for 8 seconds, and you can target your opponents standing as far as 6 meters.

Castling – E

Through this skill attack, Adela summons her rook piece and targets her rivals.

Again, you can use this skill attack to push already thrown pieces, i.e., pawn, queen, and knight, and cause more damage. Hitting each chess piece has different effects.

Moreover, this skill is also a teleporting attack. Adela can swap her place with the thrown rook and pass through her opponent in between, dealing more damage. The cooldown time for this skill is 11-19 seconds, and the SP cost is 70-130.

Checkmate – R

The ultimate skill is the most damaging attack of this character. The Norwegian chess player lifts herself in the air for 2 seconds and deals damage upon landing. If any chess pieces are already on the ground, this skill will enable them to deal more damage. The cooldown time for this skill is 70-80 seconds, and the SP cost is 90. However, the range of attack for her ultimate skill attack is 3 meters only. It makes this skill a bit close-ranged compared to the rest of her kit.

Quick Cut – D (Rapier)

Adela can charge towards her opponent and deal damage with this rapier weapon skill. Using this weapon skill, Adela can also pierce through walls in no time. The cooldown time for the Quick Cut is 30 seconds, and the attack range is 5 meters.

Skill Leveling Order

R> Q> E> W> Passive

The skill order is viable for both the builds we are mentioning below. However, if you want to tweak with the skill ordering, we recommend you to place the passive skill before the Q, only for the first Crit build mentioned below. The passive skill of Adela adds extra movement speed to her gameplay. In the Crit build, you can really use this enhanced movement speed.

Apart from the first build, this skill order is efficient for other build options. You should give it a try and see how it works for you.

Adela’s Builds

Crit Build with Volticletto

adela rapier build erbs

Rapier build for Adela with Volticletto; Saved Plan ID 332590

This build enables Adela to be more offensive and deal more critical damage. The weapon in this build is Volticletto. It will add a good amount of Extra Attack Power, Attack Speed, Critical Damage, and Critical Strike Chance.

The only drawback we see with this build is Adela’s speed. There is a less opportunity for quick movements with these build items. So, you need to keep this in mind and check whether you can adjust with this build.

Items needed for this build are:

  • Weapon: Volticletto
  • Chest: Optical Camouflage Suit
  • Head: Crystal Tiara
  • Arm: Sheath of Shah Jahan
  • Leg: Bucephalus
  • Accessory: Uchiwa

Desired route for this build:

Hotel> Pond> Avenue> Alley

This build has a shorter four zoner build route. You can quickly build your items as the last three zones are connected. The hotel is a suitable choice for starting your journey of Lumia Island. However, be cautious while moving to the second zone.

Volticletto requires a three zoner item search in this build. Considering Adela’s speed limits, this can be a daunting task to survive up to the first three zones without having your prime weapon. Overall, it is a good build option with lesser zones to travel, and you will do well with this build if you move between zones quickly.

Rapier Build with Mistilteinn

adela mistilteinn rapier

Adela Rapier build with Mistilteinn; Saved Plan ID 332591

This build is well balanced in terms of providing attack power and added movement speed options. The Mistilteinn is a fatal rapier weapon, and it will bring more attack power, enhanced SP regen, more critical damage, and better skill amplification option. Moreover, the build items used in this skill will reduce the cooldown time of Adela’s skills by a fair amount. This weapon, along with the rest of the build, deserves a try.

Items needed for this build are:

  • Weapon: Mistilteinn
  • Chest: Sunset Armor
  • Head: Imperial Burgonet
  • Arm: Draupnir
  • Leg: Straitjacket Sneakers
  • Accessory: Lunar Embrace

Desired route for this build:

Cemetery> Pond> Temple> School

This build also has a four zoner route as the previous one. However, this build has a four-zoner weapon build-up. Searching through all four zones for your prime weapon is always not an ideal choice; however, the zones are pretty much connected.

The accessory item in this build is Lunar Embrace, which will enhance your SP Regen by +200%. Apart from the SP regen, this item can provide more defense (+14) and more Skill Damage Reduction (+18). Overall, it is a quick build with connected route zones and deserves a try.

How to Play Adela

Adela is not an easy character to play around with; her skill attacks and their effects can be confusing. These are relatively difficult to master. You cannot just go out on Lumia Island and take on any opponent.

You will have to be careful and patient while playing as Adela. She needs some time to adjust. However, once you get in and find your items, the Norwegian character can explode, and she will be hard to beat.

Passive Skill Guide

The passive skill of Adela enhances her in several ways. This skill is a handy tool to widen your attack range, critical strike chance, and movement speed.

Q Skill Guide

This skill is good to target your opponents when standing further away. Try to gain three stacks through this skill attack. Once you do that, pawns of Adela will be converted into queens and deal extra damage. However, the enhanced pawns and queens only remain for 8 seconds so, try to use the Q skill again within the mentioned period.

You can also unleash other skill attacks with the Q skill to deal more damage. The enhanced Q skill will stun opponents for 1 second. It would be best if you use other heavy attacks over stunned opponents.

W Skill Guide

Try to land your knight in a position where it hits already thrown pawns, queens, or rooks. In this way, the W skill attack will have different effects, and you would extract more damage using this skill.

The best output for this skill attack would be to land your knight on the thrown pieces, and once those pieces hit your opponents, they will make them airborne. The airborne effect caused by this skill lasts for some time, and you can take advantage of that by unleashing other skill attacks.

E Skill Guide

The Castling attack adds a formidable output with a low cooldown and moderate SP cost. It will probably be your favorite skill attack against more than one enemy at a time. We would again recommend you to use this skill when you have a pawn, queen, or knight in between you and your opponent. And try to use the W skill again within 8 seconds. In this way, you will experience a teleporting effect.

The swiping effect of this skill is also very effective in catching fleeing opponents. You can unleash the rook piece within a 6-meter range and swipe your place with the rook to reach your running opponent.

R skill Guide

While Adela’s ultimate can be powerful, the problem that we see with this skill attack is that enemies may get away from you. The casting time for this skill attack is 2 seconds, and the range of attack is also lower so, be careful in executing the Checkmate skill to its fullest.

The best strategy would be to use the ultimate attack with other moves of Adela. The W skill attack will cause the airborne effect if you manage to use it properly. So, we would suggest you cast this skill right after lifting your opponents. If you do so, the ultimate skill attack would be good enough to kill your opponents in one go.

Weapon Skill Guide (Rapier)

You can use the rapier weapon skill attack for multiple purposes. Firstly, it is a very effective tool to close the gap between you and your fleeing target. Whenever you find opponents running away from you, use this skill attack to catch them and deal damage.

Secondly, you can also utilize the D button with Adela to pierce through walls. The rapier skill attack will enable you to get to the other side of the wall. The Quick Cut has an ample range of attack, and you can target your opponents even 5 meters away from you.

Teams and Match-ups for Adela

Adela is an up-and-coming character of the game and uses a Rapier as her weapon. A single weapon choice makes her limited in terms of choosing teammates for the duo and squad gameplay. However, she can still form a formidable team if you correctly combine her with other characters. We have carefully observed her strong and weak areas, and we would suggest you keep the following players on her side to win games in Lumia Island.

Duo gameplay

For duo gameplay, Fiora is an ideal choice for Adela. Both these players can do well in the game. The Italian Fencer will add the movement speed option and fill the missing link for Adela. On the other side, Adela can use her long-ranged skill attacks and formidable SP level to help Fiora in many circumstances. Together these characters will form a winning combo and can give opposing teams a tough outing.

On the contrary, patching up with Fiora would not mean you can easily beat all your opponents. There are still a few players who can fight till the last hour, and you need to be cautious against them. Players like Rozzi, Aya, Jackie, and Magnus are hard to handle. You will have to remain on your toes when facing these players.

Squad gameplay

As Adela, you need to shift change your strategy a bit for the squad gameplay. Adding a melee character to your squad along with a few range players can be very beneficial. In this way, you would form a versatile squad team. If you manage to do so, you can take on any opponent duo or squad team.

For squad gameplay, Fiora, Rozzi, and Magnus can be handy along with Adela. Magnus will add the flair of powerful attacking strikes along with his defensive skills. Rozzi is very dangerous with her long-ranged and furious skill attacks. With these two, Adela can become a tough player to beat. If you manage to form a squad with these players, you can then adapt an ultra-attacking strategy and take on any rival group of players.

Adela’s Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Adela is a solid player SP-wise: In terms of SP, Adela is very efficient. You can even survive with fewer SP providing items throughout your journey.
  • She has long-ranged skill attacks: The Norwegian lady can target her opponents, even by standing a bit farther. The long-ranged skill attacks are always handy, especially when you are fighting against more than one enemy.
  • Adela has a low cooldown time for most of her skills: The cooldown time for her passive and Q skills is low. She only needs 1 to 2 seconds to recast the mentioned skills.
  • The SP cost for her skills is also moderate: This character is not an SP demon. She can survive even without her SP adding items. She consumes average SP level points to cast her Q, W, E, and R skill attacks. The SP cost for her skill attacks ranges from 50 to 130.

Weaknesses

  • Adela has limited and fixed attack speed: You cannot increase the attack speed of Adela with items; she has fixed attack speed, and you would have to adjust to that if you play as Adela.
  • She only chooses a Rapier as her prime weapon: This character has no other weapon options. It means that you will not be able to tweak so much in terms of your build options.
  • Adela is not an easy player to control: This character is relatively new, and it will take a few days to play well as Adela. Most of her skill attacks have complicated effects. If you are new to the game, Adela might not be the ideal character for you.
