How to get the Callow Flayedwing
Chewed Reins of the Callow Flayedwing hatches from a Blight-Touched Egg. This egg is a low drop from chimaeras in Maldraxxus. The egg takes 5 (real-life) days to hatch.
The Blight-Touched Egg can drop from the following chimaera mobs in Maldraxxus
- Satiated Sawtooth
- Diseased Galescreamer
- Gristlebeak
- Galescreamer Pup
- Ravenous Galescreamer
- Neonate Bonetooth
You do not need to be part of the Necrolord covenant to loot a Blight-Touched Egg. Characters under level 60 can also obtain the egg.
Best spots to farm Blight-Touched Egg
The two best spots to farm a Blight-Touched Egg are
- /way 58.2, 70.8
- /way 58.3, 78
Both these spots have flying Diseased Galescreamers with a very low respawn timer, allowing you to keep pulling without having to look for more mobs.
The orange areas on the map are other decent farming spots. They are not my first choice, but if the 2 best spots are overcrowded they’re a good alternative.
I advise farming in a group of 5, preferably with at least one Marksmanship Hunter or Balance Druid. Their extra range can pull the chimaeras higher up in the air.
What is the drop chance for Blight-Touched Eggs?
While the exact drop chance of Blight-Touched Eggs is unknown, I estimate it to be between 0.1% and 0.5%. This means that you can expect a drop somewhere between 200 and 1000 chimaeras killed – but your results may vary!
After obtaining an egg, the Callow Flayedwing has a 100% chance to hatch from it. This means the egg always turns into a mount, but you’ll have to wait 5 days. There is no way to speed up the hatching.
